Fit reasons
- NAICS alignment with historical contract wins in similar service areas.
- Scope strongly matches core technical capabilities and delivery model.
Risks
- Past performance thresholds may require one additional teaming partner.
- Potential clarification needed on staffing minimums before bid/no-bid.
Next steps
Validate eligibility requirements, assign capture owner, and schedule partner outreach to confirm teaming strategy before submission planning.
Quick Summary
NASA/NSSC intends to award a sole source contract to Framergy for the procurement of two 1-kg batches of Cu[Ni(pdt)2] Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs), formed into spherical pellets. This material is required for testing in the Closed-Loop ECLSS Air Revitalization (CLEAR) Project Team at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center. NASA has determined Framergy to be the sole provider of this specialized material.
Scope of Work
The requirement is for the synthesis, shaping, isotherm validation, and bulk delivery of the MOF materials. The Commercial Partner will produce two 1-kg (±0.5 kg) batches of Cu[Ni(pdt)2] MOF, with one batch bound using Binder 1 and the second using Binder 2 (if applicable). The MOF must be shaped into spherical or semi-spherical particles, sized between 8-12 mesh. Binder candidates must be justified and meet specific technical requirements, including thermal stability (at least 150°C), moisture resistance (<1% H2O vapor), and compatibility with a complex gas composition (hydrogen, acetylene, ethylene, carbon monoxide, and methane) without introducing off-gas or dusting hazards. The pelletized MOF will be evaluated for its hydrogen separation capability on a benchtop scale. This MOF is critical for enhancing the efficiency and recyclability of Sabatier CO2 chemical reduction processes for future long-duration space missions.
