Source Approval Requirements
Government source approval is mandatory before contract award because the item is flight critical and/or the available technical data does not support full and open competition. Only sources already approved by the Government have been solicited.
New sources must submit detailed information as outlined in the NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support (NAVSUP WSS) Source Approval Information Brochures (Spares and Repair links provided in the original notice). If a source approval request is currently under evaluation, a copy of the cover letter must be submitted with the offer. Offers lacking the required source approval data or documentation of previous submission will not be considered. It is important to note that if a new source approval request cannot be processed in time, or if approval requirements prevent timely acquisition, the award may proceed based on Fleet support needs. The NAVSUP WSS Commercial Item Identification Brochure is also available for reference.
