Scope of Work
The selected institution will provide comprehensive academic instruction, testing, and a certificate program for the NNSY Apprentice Program. This program is a planned, progressive, career-related, co-operative education employment initiative designed to enhance apprentices' knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs). Services include:
- Classroom academic instruction.
- Industrial trade-based instruction (from Government personnel).
- On-the-Job Learning (OJL) to develop and refine KSAs. Upon completion, apprentices will receive a Trade Technician Career Studies Certificate in a marine industrial occupation and be certified as journey-level workers by both the Department of Navy and the Department of Labor. Key courses include Technical Drawing, Technical Writing, First Aid, Quality Assurance Technology, Materials & Processes, Team Concepts, Computer Applications, Basic Technical Math, Science in the Workplace, Psychology for Business, Industrial Safety, and Shielded Metal Arc Welding.
