Scope of Interest
This modernization effort requires a systems integrator to design, develop, install, and integrate a comprehensive solution. Key components include:
- New Low/Medium Volume TCA System: Automated dispensing for prescriptions, including labeling, accurate tablet/capsule dispensing, imaging, weighing, capping, sealing, and routing. The system must deliver 5,725 completed vials per shift, maintain a maximum reject rate of 2.1%, support at least 350 unique NDCs, and ensure 100% product selection accuracy with robust patient safety safeguards. Physical space requirements are approximately 2,500 square feet.
- Redesigned Loop Sorter Area: Capable of handling combined throughput from all TCA equipment with a 20% growth margin. This includes new conveyors, de-pucking systems, routing mechanisms, and integration with existing puck packing stations.
- Systems Integration: The contractor will be responsible for full design, software development, hardware installation, testing, and documentation. Software must be Microsoft-based, include detailed audit logging, comply with cybersecurity standards (PIV/PKI authentication), and integrate seamlessly with VA IT environments and the existing Pharmacy Operating System (POS).
Performance Standards & Deadlines
- Throughput: Minimum of 5,725 vials per 7.5-hour shift.
- Accuracy: 98% product selection accuracy, 100% vial filling accuracy, with an error rate below 1% for tracking.
- Reject Rates: Shall not exceed 2.1% cumulative overall per shift.
- Availability: 99% operational uptime during the one-year warranty period.
- Installation Deadlines: Loop sortation by June 30, 2027; Low/medium TCA hardware and software by June 30, 2028.
