Quick Summary
The Department of the Air Force is conducting market research via a Sources Sought Synopsis to identify potential sources for the qualification and production of 4mm and 6mm Video Borescopes. These borescopes are critical for USAF aircraft engine inspections. The Government anticipates awarding a 5-year Indefinite Deliver Requirements Contract. Responses are due May 8, 2026.
Purpose & Scope
This market research aims to identify industry capabilities to meet the USAF's requirements for advanced video borescopes, as defined by Commercial Item Description (CID) A-A-59883A (draft), specifically for Type VI borescopes. The borescopes must feature:
- 4mm and 6mm insertion tubes (at least 3m, field replaceable)
- Internal measurement software (distance, point-to-line, depth, area) and 3D modeling
- Ability to limit/remove external network connectivity
- At least a 4-inch display and a working channel on the 6mm tube
- AC or DC battery operation for 100 minutes, with a kit weight not exceeding 80 pounds
- Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) for software/hardware configuration.
Beyond product specifications, the effort includes program management, systems engineering, logistics (technical orders, spares, training), testing, configuration management, cybersecurity (CMMC Level I intent), and repair services.
