• Material: QQ-N-281, Class A or B, with chemical composition per MIL-DTL-32258.
• Self-Locking Element: ASTM-D6456 or ASTM-D4066, depending on temperature rating.
• Testing: Dye Penetrant Inspection, Quality Conformance Tests, and First Article Testing (FAT) per NASM25027 and MIL-N-25027/1. FAT may be satisfied by previous qualification or proof from a qualified source.
• Manufacturing: Internal threads must be formed by cutting; cold forming is not acceptable.
• Quality System: Must comply with ISO-9001 (or MIL-I-45208) and calibration system requirements of ISO-10012/ANSI-Z540.3 (or MIL-STD-45662). Government Quality Assurance at source is required.
• Traceability: Strict traceability from material to certification test reports is required for all Level I/SUBSAFE material.
• Mercury Free: Mercury and mercury-containing compounds must not be intentionally added or come in direct contact with hardware.
