Quick Summary
The U.S. Army Contracting Command - New Jersey, on behalf of the Office of the Project Manager, Maneuver Ammunition Systems (PM MAS), is issuing a Request for Proposal (RFP) for 5.56mm M1042 Loose and M1071 Linked Marking Ammunition Cartridges. This is a Sole Source acquisition, with the Government intending to award a contract to Ultimate Training Munitions, United Kingdom. Proposals are due April 30, 2026.
Scope of Work
The contractor shall manufacture, test, inspect, package, and deliver 5.56mm M1042 Loose and M1071 Linked Marking Ammunition Cartridges. These cartridges are for use in the Close Combat Mission Capability Kit (CCMCK), a temporary weapon conversion system for M4/M16 rifles (M1042) and M249 SAW (M1071). The marking ammunition is a reduced-energy, non-lethal cartridge that leaves a water-soluble color marking on impact, allowing for accurate assessment of simulated lethality without penetrating Warfighter uniforms or PPE.
Manufacturing and delivery must comply with Military Performance Specifications (P-SPECs) MIL-PRF-32313 and MIL-PRF-32315. Details on obtaining these specifications will be provided in the solicitation.
