Quick Summary

The Department of the Navy, NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support (NAVSUP WSS), has issued a presolicitation for the repair/modification of a specific Direct Current Motor (NSN 7R-6105-016988980-P8). This is a sole-source action under FAR 6.302-1, requiring engineering source approval due to unique design capabilities and data rights held by approved sources. New sources must undergo a qualification process.

Scope of Work

This requirement is for the repair/modification of one (1) EA of NSN 7R-6105-016988980-P8, MOTOR, DIRECT CURRENT, with TDP VER 001, FOB Origin delivery. The Government intends to negotiate with only one source due to the critical nature of the part (flight critical) and the need to maintain quality through existing approved sources. Technical data is not economically available to the Government for full and open competition.

Contract & Timeline

  • Type: Presolicitation, Sole-Source (FAR 6.302-1)
  • Set-Aside: None
  • Notice End Date: October 15, 2026
  • Published: June 3, 2026

Qualification Requirements

Only previously approved sources have been solicited. New sources must qualify in accordance with the design control activity's procedures, approved by the cognizant Government engineering activity. Interested parties who are not approved sources must submit detailed information as outlined in the NAVSUP WSS Source Approval Information Brochures (Spares or Repair) available at the provided NAVSUP website links. Offers failing to provide all required data will not be considered. If a source approval request is currently under evaluation, a copy of the cover letter must be submitted.

Response & Consideration

While this is not a request for competitive proposals, all responsible sources may identify their interest and capability to respond. Proposals, quotations, or capability statements received within 45 days of the publication date (by July 18, 2026) will be considered by the Government to determine if a competitive procurement is feasible. Information received will primarily be used to assess whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Award is contingent upon meeting qualification requirements per FAR clause 52.209-1.

Additional Notes

The Government is not using FAR Part 12 (Acquisition of Commercial Items) for this requirement. Interested persons may identify their capability to satisfy the requirement with a commercial item within 15 days of this notice.
