The VA requires a comprehensive dental milling/drilling machine system, including a CEREC PRIMEMILL, CEREC SUCTION UNIT 120V, CEREC PRIMESCAN DI AC TP STEEL, and CEREC SW 5.3 PRIMARY software. The system must be capable of:
- Digitally scanning intra-oral and extra-oral images for store-and-forward and CAD/CAM purposes.
- Securely transmitting scanned images within the facility and to the Central Dental Laboratory.
- Milling definitive and printing provisional dental restorations on-site from digital scans. Specific performance requirements include accurate scanning (meeting hospital infection control), secure transmission of various scans (crown preparations, small fixed bridges, edentulous ridges), digital design of fixed and removable appliances, on-site milling of all-porcelain crowns and small fixed bridges for same-day delivery, and printing of provisional crowns, fixed splints, 3D study models, working models, custom impression trays, and biteguards.
