Statement of Need

SCOPE:

The Sleep Department at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS) is requesting the purchase of 20 new portable sleep monitoring systems. The monitoring devices are necessary for monitoring patient sleep patterns to determine the severity of sleep apnea for diagnosis and treatment. The Watch-PAT300 with Digital RESBP (Central Plus) Kit meets all requirements as a reference for this brand name or equal requirement.

Sleep apnea is associated with several health complications such as heart failure, strokes, and depression to name just a few. Proper diagnosis and treatment of sleep apnea have shown to improve overall patient health, as there are numerous factors that contribute to sleep apnea which can only be identified by recording patient sleep patterns.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

Contractor shall provide 20 reusable portable sleep monitoring units.

Specifications set forth in this statement of need are minimum specifications and shall not be construed as limiting the overall quality, quantity, or performance of the instrument.

The offerer shall meet or exceed the minimum requirements and shall be held responsible for the performance and overall quality of the requested instrument during the instrument s warranty period.

The instruments, based upon the specifications requested, shall be the newest and the most current model. A refurbishment is not acceptable.

The vendor/distributor and/or the manufacturer must provide all necessary procedure manuals, Maintenance Manuals, troubleshooting manuals and operator manuals.

DELIVERY:

All equipment deliveries must be coordinated with the Biomedical department prior to delivery. Failure to do so may result in the return of the equipment at vendor cost.
