The Albany VA Medical Center requires a Glenoid Reamer System to support
orthopedic surgical procedures, specifically total and reverse shoulder arthroplasty.
This system is necessary to maintain continuity of patient care, ensure compatibility
with existing Arthrex implants and meet current standards of surgical practice.
The facility currently performs a high volume of shoulder arthroplasty cases. Existing
Arthrex implant systems are in use, and the Arthrex Glenoid Reamer System is the
only instrument set compatible with these implants. The reamer allows precise
preparation of the glenoid surface, which is critical for accurate implant placement,
stability, and long-term surgical success. Without this system, surgeons cannot
safely or effectively perform these procedures with the implants already in inventory.
The VIP Glenoid Targeter is a surgical instrument that allows the surgeon to execute
a preoperative virtual plan for glenoid component placement by transferring the
planned guide-pin trajectory into the patient s anatomy intra-operatively. It supports
accurate downstream glenoid preparation and implant insertion for the specific
Arthrex systems named in its indications.
