Quick Summary

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) New England Healthcare System (VISN 1) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for a Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) to upgrade nurse call systems across its facilities. This RFI seeks industry feedback on salient characteristics for effective nurse call systems to aid in preliminary planning. Responses are due by January 30th, 2026.

Scope of Work

This RFI is for market research regarding the replacement of end-of-life nurse call systems within VISN 1 medical centers, including White River Junction VAMC, Togus VAMC, VA Connecticut HCS, and VA Central Western Massachusetts. The upgrade is in preparation for the VHA electronic Health Record Management (eHRM).

The anticipated scope for the future BPA includes:

  • Turn-key installation: Furnishing and installing all equipment (servers, switches, network hardware, nurse consoles, patient stations, etc.), software setup, and cabling installation/removal.
  • Documentation: Providing user and service manuals.
  • Services: Offering training, ongoing sustainment support options, and a 5-year manufacturer warranty on devices post-installation.
  • Integration: Assistance with integrations such as Vocera and overhead paging.
  • Installation: Primarily during 7:30 am - 3:00 pm ET, Monday-Friday, with potential for weekend or after-hours work in high-risk areas. The contractor will be responsible for all labor, tools, materials, and trash disposal.
