Quick Summary
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), specifically the White River Junction VA Medical Center, has awarded a firm-fixed GSA contract for the WatchPAT One Direct Program to Itamar Medical, Inc. This sole source award, made under FAR 8.405-6(a)(1)(B), addresses the VA's unique requirement for a FedRAMP-authorized Somnoware workflow that supports direct-to-patient shipping, secure ingestion, and integration with VA's CPRS/Cerner systems.
Scope of Work
The contract procures approximately 500 WatchPAT ONE Devices with WatchPAT ONE Direct Services per year for 60 months. The WatchPAT ONE device is a disposable, single-use home sleep apnea testing device that measures sleep stages, respiratory events, oxygen saturation, heart rate, and body position via a smartphone app and cloud-based solution. A critical requirement is its compatibility and integration with the VA's CPRS/Cerner systems and a FedRAMP-authorized Somnoware interface.

- Award Date: March 10, 2026

Justification for Sole Source
The award was justified because, at present, only WatchPAT ONE Direct Services meets the VA's minimum needs for a FedRAMP-authorized Somnoware workflow that integrates with CPRS/Cerner and supports direct-to-patient shipping and secure ingestion in the VA's production environment. Implementing alternatives would require new Somnoware integration, FedRAMP authorization, and VA security assessments, leading to unacceptable delays and costs that would jeopardize continuity of care for Veterans. The WatchPAT ONE is also noted for being disposable, unlike other compatible devices.
Future Opportunities
The VA remains committed to competitive acquisitions in the future. Vendors who achieve FedRAMP-authorized Somnoware integration and demonstrate operational readiness for direct-to-patient workflows are encouraged to pursue these capabilities for potential future competitive procurements.
