Justification for Sole Source

The EPA has determined that Agilent Technologies, Inc. is the only vendor capable of supplying the requisite equipment. This decision is based on:

  • Compatibility: The Agilent 8890 GC System is compatible with the laboratory's current quality system, operational equipment, and existing sample analysis policies and procedures.
  • Efficiency & Training: Continued use of Agilent products ensures ease of operation, as current analysts are thoroughly trained on Agilent GCs. This also facilitates quicker training for new employees and cross-training for existing staff.
  • Best Value: Procurement from Agilent represents the best value to the government due to these factors.

This purchase will be made utilizing Simplified Acquisition Procedures in accordance with FAR Part 13.106-1(b)(1) and under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), as implemented by FAR 6.302-1, citing only one responsible source.
