Quick Summary
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is conducting market research through a Request for Information (RFI) for iMedRIS Integrated Research Information System (iRIS) Software/Maintenance. This RFI aims to gather information to develop an acquisition strategy for a proposed Firm Fixed Priced Delivery Order for the renewal of licensing, maintenance, and support for the iRIS system. The VA is seeking responses from interested parties to assess capabilities and refine requirements. Responses are due June 2, 2026, by 11:00 AM ET.
Scope of Work
The iRIS system is a business application off-the-shelf software critical for supporting various research compliance committees (IRB, IACUC) by managing documents, routing, notifications, and reporting for regulatory oversight. The anticipated scope includes:

- Compliance: Adherence to Section 508 standards, VA Technical Reference Model (TRM), and Zero Trust Security controls (effective July 1, 2025).
- Data Management: SSN reduction by replacing with Integrated Control Number (ICN) and integration with VA Master Person Index (MPI).
- Network Support: Solutions must support IPv6-Only and dual-stack (IPv6/IPv4) connectivity.
- Generative AI: If AI is part of the solution, it must comply with federal mandates for trustworthy, secure, and unbiased AI, including specific documentation, monitoring, and reporting. Use of public generative AI services with VA-sensitive data is prohibited.
