Scope of Work
The contractor will be required to provide a variety of fresh produce products, including fruits and vegetables (e.g., bananas, parsley, diced peppers, coleslaw, cucumbers, lettuce, onions, grapes, apples, strawberries, celery, melons, potatoes, tomatoes, spinach, etc.), as listed in the document. Orders will be placed via email, telephone, fax, or contractor website, with delivery typically required one business day prior to the anticipated delivery date.
Key requirements include:
- Product Quality: Products must be clean, sound, wholesome, free from foreign material, and meet specific standards for mold, odor, color, and consistency. Prepared produce must have a minimum 5-day shelf life post-delivery.
- Packaging & Labeling: Must adhere to good commercial practice and the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. Prepared items require readable open code dates.
- Delivery: Deliveries are scheduled between 6:30 AM and 10:00 AM, Monday through Saturday, excluding federal holidays. Deliveries must be made in enclosed, temperature-controlled vehicles (max 40°F for chilled products, 41°F or below for dairy). Contractor personnel must wear uniforms and ID badges.
- Compliance: Products and facilities must comply with all applicable Federal, State, and local regulations. Facilities must have been inspected by the Federal Government within the last six months.
