Scope of Work
The contractor will provide all resources for grounds maintenance, snow and ice removal, and storm drain cleaning at the West Haven VA Medical Center, and potentially Newington as described in the PWS.
- Grounds Maintenance: Mowing approximately 30 acres, edging, trimming around obstacles, fall leaf removal, and irrigation system maintenance (spring turn-on/fall winterization). Damaged areas caused by the contractor must be repaired.
- Snow and Ice Removal: Comprehensive removal from all sidewalks, steps, stairs, ramps, roadways, and parking lots. This includes pretreatment, continuous removal during events (starting at 1 inch accumulation or within 1 hour after snow stops), and specific procedures for parking garages. Environmentally friendly ice melt (CMA or Urea-based) is required for precast concrete surfaces. Contractor must provide all products.
- Storm Drain Maintenance: Bi-annual cleaning (April and October) and annual hydro jetting of all storm drains, including debris removal and inspection. Disposal of waste materials must comply with NPDES MS4 Permit and environmental regulations.
- Response Time: 24/7 response within one hour for snow/ice events.
- Qualifications: Field service representative within 200 miles, minimum 2-hour response time to West Haven campus, proper equipment, materials, and support.
