Quick Summary
The Department of the Air Force (AFRL Det 7/SST) is conducting market research through this Request for Information (RFI) for the Aerospace Systems Technical Research & Operations Support Services II (ASTROS II) requirement. This RFI seeks to identify capable Small Business sources for evaluating, engineering, and modifying experimental aerospace test equipment and systems at Edwards AFB, CA. Responses are due by June 24, 2026, at 4:00 PM PST.
Scope of Work
This requirement involves providing follow-on capability for evaluating, engineering, reconfiguring, modifying experimental research test equipment, stands (Property, Plant, & Equipment - PP&E), and systems. It includes performing research and development (R&D) test operations, test operation support, and maintaining special test equipment and support infrastructure. The tasks demand specialized knowledge of rocket propulsion testing, ranging from small bench-scale liquid engine components to launch booster-class engines and strategic rocket motors. This also covers practical knowledge of combined cycle designs, spacecraft propulsion, and space/missile propulsion system component testing. The contractor will engineer, integrate, modify, activate, operate, and deactivate fuel and oxidizer propellant systems for various hazardous propellants, and handle, transport, and store these materials. Incidental alterations to Real Property are authorized only when inextricably linked to primary engineering modifications of PP&E test stands.
