Statement of Need (SON)

To procure a heavy-duty, forced air recirculating heat-treating oven for the US Air Force to perform aluminum annealing and general heat-treating processes on large-scale aluminum alloy structures.

• Primary Application: Aluminum annealing and general heat-treating.

• Materials: Large-scale aluminum alloy structures.

• Desired Outcome: Provide in-house capability to safely and effectively heat treat structural components, meeting military and aerospace thermal processing standards.

• Temperature Operating Range: 200°F to 1400°F.

• Temperature Uniformity & Compliance: AMS2750H Class 2 compliant with a +/- 10°F tolerance.

• Airflow System: Forced vertical directional flow.

• Standard Compliance: Must meet CID-A-A-60033 Type I, Style A, Range 2 (excluding quench tank requirements).

• Internal Chamber Dimensions (Work Zone): Exactly 54" height, 54" width, and 72" depth.

• Weight: Maximum total shipping/equipment weight of 10,000 pounds.

• Power: 460V, 3 Phase, 60 Hz.

• Thermocouples: Sufficient sensor density for adequate thermal monitoring and redundancy (minimum of four required for primary control and high-limit safety; two is unacceptable).

• Temperature Uniformity Survey (TUS) Ports: Required for periodic testing, or an acceptable built-in recording system.

• Delivery Destination: 122 Bennett Avenue, Hurlburt Field, FL 32544, building 90714.

• Receiving Constraints: Coordinate with the metal's technology section; ground transportation has a 10,000-pound lift capacity.

• Assembly: Vendor responsible for complete assembly, setup, calibration, and verification at the final location.

• Start-Up and Commissioning: On-site testing required to demonstrate all salient characteristics, including heat-up cycle and temperature uniformity.

• Documentation: Operation manuals, maintenance guides, electrical schematics, and AMS2750H Class 2 compliance certificate.

• Warranty: Minimum 12-month standard commercial warranty on parts and labor.

• Parts Availability: Proof of genuine replacement parts availability for at least 3 years.

• Information Security: Must not use or contain hardware, software, or services from prohibited telecommunications companies per AF Form 889 / Section 889 of the National Defense Authorization Act.

• Award will be based on All or None, Technically Acceptable item.

• Contractors are responsible for ensuring their quotes are received by the Government POCs identified.

• Offerors shall provide specifications with their quote.

• The due date for quotes has been updated to June 1, 2026.

• The validity period for quotes has been updated to June 30, 2026.
