Fit reasons
- NAICS alignment with historical contract wins in similar service areas.
- Scope strongly matches core technical capabilities and delivery model.
Risks
- Past performance thresholds may require one additional teaming partner.
- Potential clarification needed on staffing minimums before bid/no-bid.
Next steps
Validate eligibility requirements, assign capture owner, and schedule partner outreach to confirm teaming strategy before submission planning.
Quick Summary
The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Lakehurst is conducting a Sources Sought (RFI) for an Aircraft Interface Device (ACID) for the MQ-4C Triton Unmanned Air Systems program. This RFI seeks industry information and comments on the ability to provide a non-developmental or commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) device to interface between the MQ-4C Triton Aircraft and the Getac X500G3 Ruggedized Laptop (DINO). Responses are due June 30, 2026, 5:00 PM EST.
Scope of Work
The purpose is to identify a suitable ACID to replace the current end-of-life Getac X500G3, establishing a common, ruggedized interface device across aircraft platforms. This device must allow for simpler and more manageable configuration of laptops while maintaining aircraft interface compatibility.
Key Requirements / Deliverables
Respondents are requested to provide feedback on a draft specification for the ACID, including:
- Feasibility of requirements, identifying any unclear or challenging aspects.
- Proposed solutions detailing design, materials, and innovative features.
- Company experience in similar ruggedized electronic equipment for aerospace/defense.
- Technical capabilities in design, engineering, and manufacturing.
- A Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) cost estimate and preliminary schedule.
- Potential risks and challenges with mitigation strategies.
Specific technical characteristics for the ACID include testing to MIL-STD-810H, portability (one-man liftable per MIL-STD-1472), ruggedization standards per MIL-STD-810, and various I/O interfaces (e.g., USB Type A 3.0, HDMI, VGA, Thunderbolt 3.0, MIL-STD-1553B, Ethernet, Serial Port).
Submission & Evaluation
- Responses are due by June 30, 2026, 5:00 PM EST.
- Submissions must be in PDF format, limited to 10 pages (excluding product specifications).
- Responses should be emailed to Michael Kirchner and Kevin Turner (contact details in the RFI document).
- Proprietary information must be clearly marked.
- Vendors should include a list of DoD, DoJ, or DHS programs using their solution and provide price lists for items meeting the RFI need.
Contract Details
This is an RFI for information and planning purposes only and does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP). The Government is not committed to contract for any supply or service, and no payment will be made for information or administrative costs incurred.
Eligibility / Set-Aside
None specified in this RFI.
