Scope of Work

The required Aircraft Tire Bead Breaker must enable a single technician to quickly and safely break narrow- and wide-body bias and radial tires without damaging wheel halves or rubber. The system must strictly adhere to Air Force Technical Orders (T.O.) 4W1-61, 4W3-2-12-3, 4W1-2-212-2, and 44B-1-3. Key requirements include:

  • Capacity: Accommodate wheel diameters 12-34 inches, tire diameters up to 68 inches, and widths up to 26.5 inches.
  • Breaking Force: Minimum 60,000 lbs.
  • Spade Adjustment: One-touch power/automatic adjustment for all four spade segments simultaneously to ensure equal pressure.
  • Lift System: Adjustable head assembly height via a positive displacement hydraulic system.
  • Safety Controls: Remote control, hard-wired emergency stop (E-stop), and loading assistance (U-shaped frame, positioning trolley, ramp adapter).
  • Utility: Compatible with 220/380/480 VAC, 3-Phase, 50/60 HZ, 7.5 KVA power. Hydraulic Power Unit (HPU) with minimum 7.5 HP motor, 5 GPM pump, and 35-gallon reservoir using ISO Grade 32 oil.
  • Dimensions: Main unit max 110" W x 74" D x 53" H (lowered), approx. 4,000 lbs. HPU max 31" W x 23" D x 30" H.

Delivery, Installation, and Training

The contractor must provide a full "turn-key" solution, including delivery, uncrating, placement, and full facility hook-up.
