Quick Summary

The Department of the Army is conducting market research through an Amendment Request for Information (RFI) for Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) Radar technologies. This RFI supports a potential in-flight demonstration of AESA Radar systems capable of fulfilling requirements for multiple rotary and fixed-wing platforms, including the AH-64 Apache, UH-60 Black Hawk, CH-47 Chinook, and Future Long Range Assault Aircraft. The demonstration is planned for Redstone Arsenal, AL. Responses are due March 16, 2026.

Purpose & Scope

This RFI is for informational purposes only, aiming to identify potential sources for AESA Radar technologies. The government seeks capabilities in Fire Control, Pilotage, Pilot aid in Degraded Visual Environments (DVE), Pole/Tower and Cable Detection, Airborne Hazards, Terrain Following (TF), Terrain Avoidance (TA), and Shoreline mapping using Augmented Reality (AR) techniques. Respondents are encouraged to provide evidence of capabilities, successes, and readiness for in-flight demonstration, even if they can only provide a subset of desired features.

Demonstration Opportunity & Technical Requirements

Selected respondents may be invited to participate in a USG-funded in-flight demonstration on a fielded AH-64E Apache platform at Redstone Arsenal, AL. The USG will provide significant support, including preparation, planning, system integration, test assets, aircraft, targets, and engineers.

Key technical requirements for the demonstration article include:

  • Mounting: Right-hand outboard wing station (Pylon 4) on an AH-64E Apache.
  • Weight Limit: Strictly 500 lbs.
  • Electrical Power: 30 Amps/phase 3-Phase 115 VAC @ 400 Hz and 40 Amps 28 VDC.
  • Cockpit Interface: Touch screen tablet (up to 8"x5"x0.75", 1.5 lbs, larger sizes considered during AWR).

Vendors are requested to provide detailed information on their AESA Radar's description, antenna characteristics, manifold & elements, operational modes, product history, maintenance, and corporate capabilities.

Submission Details

  • Contract Opportunity Type: Special Notice (RFI)
  • Set-Aside: None
  • Response Due: March 16, 2026, by 4:00 pm Central Time.
  • Published Date: February 9, 2026.
  • Submission Method: Electronically via SAM.gov. Proprietary documents must be submitted via DoD Secure Access File Exchange (SAFE).
  • Contacts: Nathan D. Johnson (nathan.d.johnson106.civ@army.mil) and Alton King (alton.v.king.civ@army.mil).

Important Notes

This RFI is not a request for competitive proposals, and no reimbursement will be made for response costs. Responses are not offers and do not form a binding contract. The USG may use responses to define future requirements, and not responding does not preclude participation in any future RFP.
