Qualification Details

Fit reasons
  • NAICS alignment with historical contract wins in similar service areas.
  • Scope strongly matches core technical capabilities and delivery model.
Risks
  • Past performance thresholds may require one additional teaming partner.
  • Potential clarification needed on staffing minimums before bid/no-bid.
Next steps

Validate eligibility requirements, assign capture owner, and schedule partner outreach to confirm teaming strategy before submission planning.

Quick Summary

The Department of the Navy (NAVSEA) is conducting market research via this Sources Sought/RFI for the production and support of the AN/SPY-6 Family of Radars. The Navy intends to competitively award a multi-award Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract as early as FY27 to procure and support various radar variants. Responses are due February 16, 2026.

Scope of Work

The requirement covers the production of four AN/SPY-6 variants built on common hardware line replaceable units (LRUs) using modular, open system principles:

  • AN/SPY-6(V)1: For DDG-51 Flight III ships.
  • AN/SPY-6(V)2: Rotating variant for CVN, LHA, and LPD hulls.
  • AN/SPY-6(V)3: Fixed-face variant for CVN (Ford) and FFG(X) hulls.
  • AN/SPY-6(V)4: For DDG-51 Flight IIA backfit.

The scope includes "Build-to-Print" production based on a Government-furnished Technical Data Package (TDP), technology refreshes, obsolescence resolution, and engineering support. The Government is considering breaking out specific subsystems for separate competition, including Digital Receiver/Exciter (DREX) LRUs, Transmit/Receive Integrated Microwave Modules (TRIMM), and Prime Power Equipment (PPE).

Contract & Timeline

  • Type: Multi-Award IDIQ (Anticipated)
  • Procurement Window: FY27 through FY35
  • Set-Aside: None specified (Market Research stage)
  • Response Due: February 16, 2026
  • Published: February 2, 2026 (Latest Update)

Evaluation

This RFI is for planning purposes. The Navy is evaluating industry capability to manufacture complex S-Band RF electronics, manage digital communication networks, and perform system integration. Feedback on the proposed multi-award breakout strategy is specifically requested.
