Quick Summary

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), specifically the Agricultural Research Service (ARS), is soliciting quotations for an Automated Slide Scanner. This acquisition is a Total Small Business Set-Aside and is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for commercial products. The requirement is for a "brand name or equal" product, specifically comparable to the Glissando RS20. Quotations are due by June 5, 2026, at 4:00 PM CDT.

Scope of Work

The vendor will provide an ultra-high-resolution slide scanning microscope system with a 20-slide loading capacity. The system must be capable of whole slide scanning of standard 25mm x 75mm microscope slides at up to 400X magnification with a 0.5µm scanning resolution. Key features include automated tissue detection, autofocus, barcode reading, and integrated Extended Depth of Field (EDF) software for focus-stacked images and high-resolution z-stack scanning. The system must include a 20X objective with an option for 40X scanning and produce EDF output in TIFF, JPEG, and Bitmap formats. Integrated EDF software in beta-testing status will not be accepted.
