Quick Summary
The Department of the Navy, specifically the Naval Sea Systems Command (NSWC) Crane Division, has issued a Special Notice for a Request for Information (RFI) titled "Autonomous Systems to Reduce Risk Warfighters Encounter." This RFI seeks information from industry on Uncrewed System (UxS) solutions (UGV, UAV, USV, UUV) that can reduce risks faced by warfighters. The RFI is sponsored by the Marine Corps. Responses are due by March 30, 2026.
Purpose & Scope
The primary purpose of this RFI is to collect information on autonomous systems that meet specific criteria to protect warfighters. Based on the information gathered, the Government may issue a Request for Solutions (RFS), with the intent to award a Project Order under the Expeditionary Missions Consortium (EMC2) Other Transaction Agreement (OTA) in accordance with 10 U.S.C. § 4022.
NSWC Crane is looking for UxS solutions that meet required specifications including: total system weight of 45 lbs or less, a minimum 30-minute battery life after deployment, and a minimum speed to keep pace with a human (2.5-4 mph). Additional information is requested on carrying capacity, safety features (redundant safety, timer), cost (per unit, production rate), Blue UAS status, Technology Readiness Level (TRL), ATAK compatibility, autonomy levels, contested environment operation (hand signals, voice commands, emission profile), and integrated kinetic/non-kinetic capabilities.
Submission Requirements
Responses must be submitted as Word Documents, PDFs, or PowerPoints, not exceeding 5 pages/slides and 10MB. Organization details (name, submitter contact, city/state) must be on the first page/slide. Text should be Times New Roman 10pt or larger. Submissions must be non-proprietary and non-classified, with no marketing pictures or hyperlinks. Responses may be shared with partner organizations and could lead to further contact from NSWC Crane personnel.
