Quick Summary
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Boulder Campus, is seeking a contractor for the B26 Hot Water Recirculation project. This Total Small Business Set-Aside opportunity involves installing a hot water recirculation line and two pumps in Building 26 (Daycare Center), with an optional line item for a water heater replacement in Building 111. Work requires close coordination due to daycare operations and may include off-hour activities. Proposals are due Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
Scope of Work
The primary scope (CLIN 0001) includes providing all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision to install a hot water recirculation line and two associated recirculation pumps in Building 26 (Daycare Center). This involves mechanical piping modifications, electrical connections to existing panelboards with new breakers and disconnects, and compliance with current NEC and NIST site standards.
An optional line item (CLIN 0002) covers furnishing and installing a new water heater associated with piping in Building 111. This involves replacing an existing natural gas water heater with two electric point-of-use DHW heaters, disabling the gas heater, capping piping, and performing necessary electrical work. Metering of panelboard "111" for 30 days is required to confirm capacity.
General requirements include adherence to NIST specifications, site-specific safety plans, and general instructions for conducting work at the NIST Boulder Campus, covering site access, badging, permitting, safety protocols, and coordination with the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR).
