- Unit 1 (Farmers): Approximately 468 acres, 22 miles south of Grand Junction. Focus on masticating 50% of mixed mountain shrub and all juniper under 24" DBH.
- Unit 2 (Corcoran Peak): Approximately 143 acres, 18 miles north of Grand Junction. Focus on masticating 75% of mixed mountain shrub and all juniper under 8" DBH.
- Vegetation Reduction: Reduce vegetation to mulch material (minimum 80% less than 1" diameter and 6" long), scattered evenly, not exceeding 8" deep piles.
- Equipment: Contractor-provided equipment (skidder, tractor, excavator) with a mounted masticator/mulcher.
- Environmental Considerations: Avoid Ponderosa Pine, minimize damage to Sagebrush, protect cultural/paleontological sites, and adhere to migratory bird restrictions (no work between May 15 and July 15).
