Quick Summary
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), NV Carson City Field Office, has issued a Combined Synopsis/Solicitation (RFQ) for Lop and Scatter Services in the Wassuk Mountains, Nevada. This Total Small Business Set-Aside opportunity aims to improve sage-grouse habitat and reduce wildfire intensity by treating approximately 1026 acres of pinyon and juniper woodlands. The resulting award will be a firm-fixed price purchase order. Quotes are due Monday, July 06, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. Mountain Daylight Time.
Scope of Work
The project involves performing "Lop and Scatter" treatment across two units: Baldwin Canyon (317 acres) and Baldwin Highlands (709 acres). Contractors will cut pinyon and juniper trees smaller than 24" diameter at ground level, adhering to specific "Do Not Cut" criteria for larger, old-growth, or wildlife-used trees. Dead snags and young immature trees are to be cut, with one snag per acre left standing. All cut materials must not protrude higher than 18 inches, and stumps must be severed at less than 4 inches high. Environmental considerations include strict adherence to fire prevention, weed control, cultural resource protection, and sensitive plant/animal protocols. Vehicles are restricted to existing roads, and refueling must be at least 50 feet from water bodies. The contractor is responsible for providing all tools, materials, equipment, and labor.
