Scope of Work
This BPA seeks to procure Resource Protection K9s/Federal Wildlife Canines (FWCs) and provide professional handler training for new and experienced Federal Wildlife Canine Officers (FWCOs). Key requirements include:
- Procuring multi-purpose (dual-purpose) canines with either Wildlife/Plant Detection or Narcotics Detection capabilities, possessing patrol functions such as Protection, Apprehension, Area/Building Search, Tracking/Trailing, Article Search and Hold, and Bark.
- Providing a 6-week canine handler training academy for both beginner and experienced handlers.
- Canines must meet specific temperament and physical criteria, including being social, clear-minded, and having drives suitable for USFWS missions. Breeds specified are Malinois, Dutch Shepherd, German Shepherd, or a mix, weighing 50-65 pounds.
- The vendor must have a proven track record, access to a significant training facility (80,000 sq ft), and employ Master Trainers.
