Scope of Work
This project entails evaluating and adjusting airflows within Building 215's cleanroom. Key tasks include:
- Pre-demolition testing of mechanical equipment.
- Replacement of approximately 70 variable air volume (VAV) terminal units and 54 airflow monitors.
- Repair and diagnostics of existing control systems.
- Installation of 32 new exhaust air valves.
- Repair or modification of existing exhaust or supply ductwork.
- Replacement of approximately 1200 existing terminal supply HEPA filters, including repair of supply connections, balancing, and certification.
- Rebalancing of air handling units, exhaust fans, and cleanroom pressurization.
- Recertification of the cleanroom and verification/repair of capped ducts.
Key Requirements & Conditions
Contractors must demonstrate:
- Ability to perform all listed tasks.
- Relevant and recent experience with similar projects (greater than $1.5M within the last 60 months).
- Capability to work 24/7 during outages (maximum 9 calendar days per outage), with liquidated damages for delays.
- Ability to schedule, plan, and contain individual cleanroom bays (14 total) to allow phased construction and maintain operations in adjacent areas.
- Ability to protect irreplaceable tools and equipment, maintaining adequate insurance for potential damage and downtime (with liquidated damages).
- Skill in managing specialty trades and collaborating closely with NIST.
