Scope of Work
The project requires the fabrication of a miter gate with two leaves, each measuring 61 feet 6 inches from center to center of thrust-bearing contacts, and a height of 65 feet from sill to walkway top. Each leaf must be a complete welded structure, braced on the downstream side with adjustable diagonal members, and include a pintle assembly. The top of the gate will feature a grated aluminum walkway and galvanized steel pipe handrailing.
Special Requirements
- Welding: All welding must comply with AWS D1.5M/D1.5 welding code.
- Fabricator Certification: Steel fabricators, including subcontractors, must be certified under AISC Quality Certification Program for "Certified Hydraulic Fabricator" (HYD), "Certified Hydraulic Fabricator - Advanced" (HYDA), "Steel Bridge Fabricator - Intermediate" (IBR), or "Steel Bridge Fabricator - Advanced" (ABR) with "Fracture Control Endorsement" (FCE).

- Security: Personnel requiring access to Meldahl Locks and Dam must meet specified security requirements.
Period of Performance & Delivery
Work is to commence within fifteen (15) calendar days after receipt of the Notice of Award, with completion and delivery no later than 1,100 calendar days after award. Delivery must be by barge to Meldahl Locks and Dam, 2443 US Highway 52, Felicity, OH 45120 (approx. River Mile 436.2 on the Ohio River). Gate leaves are to be shipped horizontally, skin plate side up, with walkway and handrail sections detached. Truck delivery is not permitted. The contractor must notify the Contracting Officer 48 hours prior to delivery and is responsible for any damages during shipment. A joint inspection is required prior to off-loading. The delivery barge(s) must be available for Government use for a minimum of 60 calendar days after acceptance.
