Qualification Details

Fit reasons
  • NAICS alignment with historical contract wins in similar service areas.
  • Scope strongly matches core technical capabilities and delivery model.
Risks
  • Past performance thresholds may require one additional teaming partner.
  • Potential clarification needed on staffing minimums before bid/no-bid.
Next steps

Validate eligibility requirements, assign capture owner, and schedule partner outreach to confirm teaming strategy before submission planning.

Quick Summary

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is conducting a Sources Sought for a CBr4 Gas Delivery System for carbon doping of MBE grown devices. This is market research to identify potential and eligible firms, of all sizes, including small businesses, prior to determining the acquisition method. Responses are due June 15, 2026.

Scope of Work

NIST requires a replacement CBr4 (Carbon Tetrabromide) gas delivery system for a Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) system. The system must be compatible with Ultra-High Vacuum (UHV) and capable of doping in the range of 1e16 cm^3 to 1e20 cm^3 in MBE grown GaAs at 1 monolayer/s. Key requirements include:

  • Compatibility with VEECO molly software and VEECO GEN10 MBE dual gas/solid source injector.
  • CBr4 bottle housed in a sealed, temperature-controlled, and vented cabinet.
  • Heated injection lines to prevent CBr4 condensation.
  • Closed-loop pressure control with stability of <0.2 mTorr.
  • Must be an established commercial product with a proven track record; experimental or prototype items are not acceptable.
  • Must be new, covered by a 1-year manufacturer's warranty, and tested on-site by the manufacturer before shipping.
  • Installation services, including vendor technician, rigging, uncrating, setup, and start-up, are required.
  • Training for operation, safety, maintenance, and troubleshooting is also required.
