Opportunity Details

This acquisition is for a scientific study titled "258C2: Clinical Evaluation of the Xpert® tropical fever test on the GeneXpert® Edge X system using venous and capillary whole blood specimens." The Xpert® Tropical Fever test is an automated, multiplex real-time PCR assay for the qualitative identification of nucleic acids from various fever-causing pathogens, including Plasmodium species, Dengue virus, Zika virus, Chikungunya virus, and Leptospira species.

Scope of Work

The contractor, UMGC, shall provide all necessary personnel, equipment, supplies, facilities, transportation, tools, materials, supervision, and non-personal services to perform sample collection and testing for Protocol 258C2. Key tasks include:

  • Collecting capillary and venous blood samples from approximately 100 patients suspected of Tropical Fever or with relevant travel/residence history.
  • Performing on-site testing of capillary blood using the GeneXpert® Edge X and GXDX systems.
  • Conducting laboratory analysis on a portion of venous blood samples.
  • Performing Biofire Global Fever Panel comparator testing and discrepant analysis with bi-directional sequencing.

Contractor Requirements

Personnel must possess basic security clearance (U.S. citizen, host country permit, or U.S. Embassy clearance). The contractor must establish and implement methods for key control and provide specific personnel, including a Principal Investigator, Co-PIs, Site Administrator, Phlebotomists, Consenters, Medical Screeners, BioFire Operators, Data Entry Personnel, and Research Assistants. Adherence to applicable regulations, publications, manuals, local policies, and procedures, specifically Protocol 258C2, is mandatory.
