This document, MIL-DTL-4088L, establishes the detail specification for woven nylon textile webbing. It is approved for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense (DoD).

• Material: Bright, high tenacity, light and heat resistant nylon yarn. Class 1 and 1A use nylon 6,6; Class 2 uses nylon 6 or 6,6. Yarn shall not be bleached.

• Classification: Webbing is classified into Types and Classes (e.g., Class 1, 1A, 2) with specific requirements for denier, filament, and twist.

• Color: Webbing can be furnished in Natural White, Olive Drab 7, Camouflage Green 483, Tan 499, Air Force Sage Green 34158, and Air Force Yellow 13655. Colorfastness requirements are detailed.

• Weave: Specific weave patterns are defined for various types of webbing (e.g., herringbone twill, double plain weave).

• Physical Requirements: Detailed specifications for width, thickness, weight, breaking strength, ends in warp, picks per inch, number of single yarns, and yarn denier are provided in Tables IV and V for different types and classes.

• Testing & Verification: Includes first article inspection, conformance inspection, visual examination, shade variation, length examination, and component/end item testing for various characteristics.

• The specification itself does not detail contract type, period of performance, or estimated value. These would be specified in the procurement documents.

• This specification supersedes MIL-W-4088K dated 21 November 1988.

This document outlines the requirements for the procurement of coated and uncoated webbing.

• CLIN 0001: 1-3/4” Coated Webbing (100 Yard Rolls)

  • Manufactured per P/N: 3491AS2311-300-0, NAVAIRSYSCOM Drawing 3491AS2311, Rev A.
  • Specifications: MIL-DTL-4088L, Type 19, Class 1A (required), Yarn: Nylon 6.6, Width: 1-3/4”, Color: Natural White.
  • Treatment: Resin Coated per MIL-DTL-27265F, Class “R” (Resin TR-5418-3) on 4 sides.
  • Length: To be stated after resin treatment.
  • Packaging: 100 yard rolls, one piece rolls with NO SPLICES.
  • Inspection: 100% inspection required.
  • Compliance: Must be manufactured in the United States under the Berry Amendment Act.
  • Documentation: Certificate of Quality Compliance and Laboratory Inspection Reports required.
  • Quantity: 300 Rolls
  • FOB: Destination

• CLIN 0002: 1-3/4” Uncoated Webbing (100 Yard Rolls)

  • Specifications: MIL-DTL-4088L, Type 19, Class 1A, Yarn: Nylon 6.6, Width: 1-3/4”, Color: Natural White.
  • Treatment: Uncoated.
  • Packaging: 100 yard rolls, one piece rolls with NO SPLICES.
  • Inspection: 100% inspection required.
  • Compliance: Must be manufactured in the United States under the Berry Amendment Act.
  • Documentation: Certificate of Quality Compliance and Laboratory Inspection Reports required.
  • Quantity: 1000 Rolls
  • FOB: Destination

• Delivery expected 90-120 days ARO or sooner.

• Shall be in accordance with specifications (MIL-DTL-4088L/MIL-DTL-27265F).
