Scope of Work
The contractor will be responsible for:
- Establishing Printing Standards: Defining industry standards for colorization/enhancement, including artwork, pre-press plates, cliché plates, image registration, and spoilage criteria (e.g., mis-register, incorrect color match, debris, insufficient ink).
- Printing System: Utilizing pad printing and/or inkjet processes for high-quality image application.
- Coin Compatibility: Capability to print on various U.S. Mint coins and medals, including different sizes, metals (99.9% silver, 90% silver/10% copper, 0.999 fine gold, cupronickel, 90% copper/10% zinc), and finishes (proof/uncirculated).
- Coin Shapes: Ability to print on curved, concave/convex, and square-shaped coins.
- Print Durability: Ensuring permanent adhesion, color stability, and no contribution to tarnish or corrosion for the life of the coin.
- Selective Inking: Preparing mechanisms to selectively apply one or more CYMK inks to specific image areas.
