Statement of Work (SOW) / Performance Work Statement (PWS)

Argonne National Laboratory requires a qualified contractor to perform non-destructive scanning of concrete and masonry substrates using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and complementary detection technologies. The primary goal is to identify embedded elements within various concrete and masonry structures to reduce risk before penetration activities.

• Scanning Services: Utilize GPR and other detection methods to identify embedded items such as reinforcing steel, post-tension cables, conduits, piping, anchors, plates, voids, or anomalies.

• Substrates: Applicable to cast-in-place concrete (on grade and elevated), walls, beams, columns, decks, CMU, precast elements, and structural toppings.

• Purpose of Scanning: Prevent injury, avoid damage to structural/utility systems, support safe construction/maintenance, improve coordination, and maintain safety compliance.

• Service Delivery: Performed on an as-needed basis for construction, maintenance, and modification projects requiring concrete/masonry penetration. Work is scheduled via a Blind Penetration Permit (ANL-909).

• Execution: Conducted by trained technicians. Scanning limits and surface preparation require coordination. Detected items must be clearly marked on the surface.
