Fit reasons
- NAICS alignment with historical contract wins in similar service areas.
- Scope strongly matches core technical capabilities and delivery model.
Risks
- Past performance thresholds may require one additional teaming partner.
- Potential clarification needed on staffing minimums before bid/no-bid.
Next steps
Validate eligibility requirements, assign capture owner, and schedule partner outreach to confirm teaming strategy before submission planning.
Quick Summary
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) / NASA Shared Services Center (NSSC) intends to issue a sole source contract to the UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON for Continued enhancements to ICESat-2 land ice science product algorithms. This special notice is to inform the public of this intent and allow other interested organizations to submit their capabilities to perform this effort. Responses are due by February 13, 2026.
Scope of Work
The requirement focuses on developing future-proof land-ice data products for the ICESat-2 project and future altimetry missions. Key objectives include:
- Continuing time series of ICESat-2-type products: Quarterly updates to ice-front masks and 2-4 annual ATL14/15 updates, adapting algorithms for data continuity.
- Extending ICESat-2 products: Incorporating data from previous missions (ICESat, IceBridge) to extend the laser-altimetry time series back to 2003 and developing algorithms for future missions.
- Improving product precision, spatial, and temporal resolution: Addressing errors, incorporating additional data, and developing methods for finer temporal sampling.
- Developing algorithms for faster and easier calculations: Simplifying and improving efficiency to reduce development time and enable real-time custom product calculation.
- Improving access to algorithms: Enhancing documentation, demonstration notebooks, and code comments for transparency and adoption.
