Fit reasons
- NAICS alignment with historical contract wins in similar service areas.
- Scope strongly matches core technical capabilities and delivery model.
Risks
- Past performance thresholds may require one additional teaming partner.
- Potential clarification needed on staffing minimums before bid/no-bid.
Next steps
Validate eligibility requirements, assign capture owner, and schedule partner outreach to confirm teaming strategy before submission planning.
Quick Summary
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), specifically the NASA Shared Services Center, is soliciting quotes for the Continuous Compression Molding (CCM) of Amorphous Thermoplastic Film to Semi-crystalline Thermoplastic Prepreg. This is a Brand Name or Equal To requirement, set aside for Total Small Businesses. The objective is to develop and optimize a CCM process for healing polymer films onto prepreg materials. Quotes are due by March 4, 2026, 7 a.m. CT.
Scope of Work
The project requires the development and optimization of a Continuous Compression Molding (CCM) process. Key tasks include:
- Conducting evaluation trials to determine a viable method for processing film/prepreg/film stacks using CCM equipment.
- Producing 10 sets of 20 ft x 12 in processed material, each undergoing up to 10 different thermal history cycles representative of NASA's requirements.
- Providing thermal history data, measured by embedded thermocouples, for each of the 10 material sets.
- Supplying all consumables necessary for the CCM process.
- Granting NASA personnel access to the vendor's facility during material builds.
- Shipping processed material back to NASA Langley Research Center. NASA will provide all materials to be processed (film and prepreg), including shipping to the vendor, as well as sufficient material for sacrificial plies, evaluation trials, and desired thermal processing cycles.
