Quick Summary
The National Aeronautics And Space Administration (NASA), through its NASA SHARED SERVICES CENTER, intends to award a sole source Firm Fixed-Price (FFP) contract to MOONPRINT SOLUTIONS LLC for a Custom textile prototype. This effort focuses on developing an advanced coating system for custom-woven fabrics to be used in the outer shell of NASA's Artemis lunar spacesuit Environmental Protection Garment (EPG). Interested organizations may submit capabilities statements by February 9, 2026, to determine if a competitive procurement is feasible.
Purpose & Context
This Special Notice signifies NASA's requirement for a custom textile prototype. The primary objective is to continue the development and optimization of an advanced coating system for custom-woven fabrics, aiming to create a bespoke solution that meets the stringent performance requirements of the lunar environment for the Artemis lunar spacesuit EPG.
Scope of Work
The scope includes the development and optimization of an advanced coating system applied to custom-woven fabrics. This involves process optimization, such as calendaring and the application of high-performance coating and/or film laminates. Key performance characteristics to be addressed include fabric hand, flame resistance, electrostatic discharge (ESD) performance, interlaminar peel strength, and abrasion resistance. Technical goals include maximizing interlaminar peel strength, producing a dust-impermeable outer coating layer, incorporating inorganic additives for enhanced flame resistance, UV durability, color stability, and ESD performance, maintaining low stiffness, refining coating/film formulation, and conducting a scaling/industrialization assessment.
