This notice is being published as required by FAR 5.201(b)(1).
The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Lakehurst, NJ (NAWCADLKE) intends to award a competitive Firm-Fixed price contract for the following in accordance with Government drawings:
Retractable Sheaves (STARBOARD) Part Number 3491AS0500-2, and Retractable Sheaves (PORT) Part Number 3491AS0500-3, for Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) AAG in support of CVN81 construction.:
A requirement exists to procure and deliver three (3) Retractable Sheaves (Right), Part Number 3491AS0500-2, and three (3) Retractable Sheaves (Left), Part Number 3491AS0500-3, engineering test reports, and data in support of CVN 81.
The required NGL Assembly, Flush Deck are Critical Safety Items (CSIs) and therefore it is the Navy's intent to pursue a limited competition between the following vendors whom are qualified to provide these CSIs:

--Penn State Tool and Die Shop, 7590 Route 30, Irwin, PA 15642
-- General Atomics San Diego, CA
-- NAWCADLKE
The NAICS code associated with this requirement is 333998. The Government intends to procure the above items under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 3204(a)(1), FAR 6.302-1. The limited number of responsible sources listed above are the only companies that can meet the agency's need for the NGL Assembly, Flush Deck in support of CVN80. All responsible sources are encouraged to submit a proposal in writing that may be used by the Government in determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based upon the response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
