The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded a single source contract to Data Comm for Business, Inc. (DCB), for Dedicated Network Telecommunications System (DNTS) will procure Commercial-Off-The Shelf (COTS) fiber optics multiplexer equipment.
FAA Airport Cable Loop (ACL) Systems - Sustained Support (ACLSSS) Program suport to monitoring, managing, and/or replacing FAA’s on-airport cable systems, with a strategic mission to provide increased capacity and availability. On-airport ACL systems are FAA-owned and managed signal/control cable lines and equipment that transport information between airport traffic control towers (ATCT) and other FAA on-airport facilities. This information includes essential and critical services such as radar and weather data, air-toground voice communication, navigational aid control and monitoring from the ATCT; as well as
non-essential information such as administrative traffic and email. The “Dedicated Network Telecommunications System” (DNTS) equipment obtained through this procurement will replace the aging legacy communications equipment most of which is
deteriorating and no longer manufacturer-supported or produced.
This notification is being administered in accordance with the FAA Acquisition Management System (AMS) Guidance T3.2.2.4.f, the purpose of this announcement is to inform industry of the basis of the FAA's decision to contract with a single source when it is determined to be in the best interest of the FAA.
