Quick Summary
The Department of Commerce (DOC) has issued a Special Notice to inform industry of its procurement strategy for the Cloud Vehicle Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA). This 10-year vehicle, with an estimated value of $4.105 Billion, is designed to provide native hyperscale cloud services across the Department. This notice is for informational purposes only; no action is required from industry.
Scope of Strategy
The DOC is adopting a Direct-to-CSP (Cloud Service Provider) approach due to highly specialized technical requirements. These requirements include massive compute elasticity (25,000+ concurrent vCPUs), proprietary 100+ Tbps global backbones, and specific hardware density for AI/ML and weather modeling. To ensure mission success and direct engineering support, it is contemplated that only Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) acting as the Cloud Service Provider will be eligible for award.
