Scope of Work

The primary goal is to maintain continuity of operations, reliability, and security for the VA's communication platform. The scope includes:

  • Hardware: Provision of 450 Vocera V5000 Smartbadges (with 1-year standard and 2-year extended warranty), 1,000 V5000 batteries, 75 V5000 8-Bay universal chargers (with 2-year extended warranty), 36 packs of V5000 clips, and 4 V5000 Training Kits.
  • Software & Licensing: Supply of 450 V5000 FIPS 1402 Device Licenses, Vocera Premier Support for Voice (450 users), SIP Telephony (6 ports), Platform, and Messaging (50 users), plus PerDevice Messaging licenses.
  • Services: Comprehensive implementation, configuration, workflow design, callflow and messaging design, deployment optimization, and various training programs (administrator, technical, end-user, super-user, train-the-trainer, analytics). This also includes go-live support, post-deployment assessment, and wireless performance assessment.

Key Requirements & Salient Characteristics

The Vocera V5000 badges must be lightweight (max 4 oz), hands-free, include a push-to-talk and dedicated panic button, offer a minimum 35-hour battery life, be antimicrobial, and support FIPS compliance for the VA wireless system. Batteries must provide a minimum of 4 hours talk time and 40 hours standby. Chargers must be 8-bay and charge all batteries simultaneously within 6 hours. All equipment must be compatible with existing NAVAHCS services and adhere to VA, VHA, and VAAR security, privacy, and information system requirements, including VA Handbook 6500 and 6500.6.
