Quick Summary
The Department of the Air Force, specifically the 633rd Contracting Squadron at Langley Air Force Base, has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for Diesel Engine Replacement. This market research aims to identify capable sources for replacing an obsolete Hatz diesel engine, part number 89162-400, NSN 4920-01-614-3132, used in a Cabin Pressure Tester. Responses are due by January 30, 2026.
Scope of Work
The Aerospace Group Equipment Flight of the 1st Maintenance Squadron requires a new diesel engine to replace an obsolete unit critical for operational needs. The replacement engine must meet specific technical specifications, including a 4-cylinder configuration, 3432 displacement, 18:1 compression ratio, and a net weight of 316.336kg. It also requires a digital panel voltmeter (0-300VDC), digital panel ammeter (0-300A), load channel switches, a mains switch, LED indicators for over temperature and 28V circuit enabled, a 28V switch, and start/stop buttons. No specific EPA emissions tiers are required, but replacement engines can be of equal or greater tier based on equipment age. A picture of the obsolete engine is required to ensure correct component orientation on the new engine. The current Cabin Pressure Tester is manufactured by Hydraulics International Inc.
