Fit reasons
- NAICS alignment with historical contract wins in similar service areas.
- Scope strongly matches core technical capabilities and delivery model.
Risks
- Past performance thresholds may require one additional teaming partner.
- Potential clarification needed on staffing minimums before bid/no-bid.
Next steps
Validate eligibility requirements, assign capture owner, and schedule partner outreach to confirm teaming strategy before submission planning.
Quick Summary
The National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) is conducting a Sources Sought to identify potential vendors for a Diode-Pumped Frequency-Doubled Nd:YVO4-Laser. This market research aims to determine eligible business firms, including small businesses, that can provide this product, and to identify U.S. manufacturers, before determining the acquisition method. Responses are due May 1, 2026.
Scope of Work
NIST seeks information on vendors capable of providing a high-power, single-frequency, diode-pumped frequency-doubled Nd:YVO4-laser. Key specifications include:
- Output Power: >18 Watts (continuous) at 532 nm.
- Frequency Doubling: Temperature-stabilized LBO crystal.
- Laser Head: Hermetically sealed, no user controls, fiber optic connection, TEMoo output beam (2.25 mm diameter at 1/e2), <0.5 mrad divergence, M-squared <1.1, ellipticity <10%.
- Stability: Pointing <3 microrad/°C; Frequency <5 MHz over 50 msec; Amplitude noise <0.05% rms; Power drift +/- 1% or less over two hours.
- Polarization: Vertical with >100:1 extinction ratio.
- Warm-up Time: 20 minutes or less.
- Diode Lifespan: Capable of 10,000 hours (preferred: >20,000 hours).
- Control: User-controlled output power via remote module/computer interface.
