Quick Summary

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Tres Rios Field Office, is soliciting quotes for brush removal and mastication services on approximately 77 acres in the West Dolores Rim area of Colorado. This effort, titled "DOLORES WEST RIM MASTICATION FY26," aims to achieve vegetation treatment objectives. This is a Total Small Business Set-Aside, and quotes are due by Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. MST.

Scope of Work

The project involves mechanical thinning and mastication across 77 acres. Key requirements include:

  • Mechanical Thinning of Control Lines: Remove vegetation less than 16" DBH along 100' wide swaths inside fire control lines (approx. 67 acres). Vegetation larger than 16" DBH must be limbed to six feet. Slash will be masticated and dispersed. Mature juniper and pinyon trees > 16" DBH are to be retained. Standing dead/down logs must be removed or relocated.
  • Drip-lining of Ponderosa Pine: Remove vegetation <16" DBH and limb larger vegetation to six feet above ground level underneath Ponderosa tree driplines plus ten feet (approx. 10 acres). All Ponderosa trees are to be retained. Standing dead/down logs must be removed or relocated 30 feet away from the dripline.
  • Equipment: Contractors must utilize machine-mounted thinning and shredding equipment (e.g., Hydro-Ax, Fecon Bull Hog).
  • Environmental Considerations: Adherence to environmental regulations, including noxious weed mitigation (power washing equipment), hazardous materials handling, and fire prevention measures.
