This combined synopsis/solicitation seeks a qualified conservator to preserve a historically significant Oushak rug (EDIS 102381) that is actively used in a period room. The conservation work involves both on-site and off-site tasks. On-site tasks include de-installing the rug, packing it for transport, and re-installing it after conservation. Contractors must protect adjacent artifacts, historic finishes, architectural features, and floors. Off-site tasks encompass museum-grade cleaning, stabilization, and addressing various damages such as stains, wrinkles, rips, tears, and failing repairs. A detailed condition and treatment report with before and after photographs is required. Adherence to NPS, Secretary of the Interior, and AIC standards for preservation and conservation is mandatory.

The lead conservator must have a minimum of three years of textile conservation training and experience.
