Quick Summary
The Department of the Air Force (AFMC) has issued a Presolicitation for the procurement of two Elevation Gearbox Assemblies for the GLOBUS-X Band radar system. This mission-critical acquisition aims to mitigate the risk of catastrophic failure by replacing worn gearboxes, originally manufactured in 1993, for this unique system. The solicitation is anticipated to be posted on SAM.gov around April 7, 2026.
Scope of Work
This effort seeks a supplier to produce new, built-to-print elevation gearboxes in accordance with a Government-provided technical data package. Due to the unique operating conditions and system-specific design of the GLOBUS-X gearboxes, this project will require Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE). The procurement is for two (2) spare gearboxes to address the current reliance on aged components and limited existing stock, ensuring the continued operational readiness of the GLOBUS-X radar.
Program Context
The GLOBUS Program is a bi-national collaborative effort supporting critical radar and communications systems at an Outside Continental United States (OCONUS) location. The GLOBUS System of Systems includes an S-Band radar, an X-Band radar, an Integrated System Controller, and a Mission Communication Suite. The United States Air Force is responsible for capital equipment procurement, sustainment, and oversight, while the Host Nation Government manages system operations and organizational-level maintenance.
