Material Specifications

Type 1 River Rock must be reasonably well-graded, free from overburden, spoil, shale, and unsuitable material. Fines (less than ½-inch) shall not exceed 5% by weight, and the maximum weight of any single piece is limited to 3,000 lbs. Specific gradation limits are provided in the SOW.

  • Durability Requirements:
    • Bulk specific gravity (saturated surface-dry basis, ASTM C 127): Not less than 2.40.
    • Soundness in freezing and thawing (CRD-C 144-92): Loss at 20 cycles not more than 25 percent for at least 50 percent of the face height.
  • No gradation test is required prior to shipping, and no CQM credentialed staff is needed for this project.
