Quick Summary

The Navajo Area Indian Health Service (IHS) is conducting market research via a Sources Sought synopsis to identify qualified contractors for Emergency Room (ER) HVAC Airflow Balancing and Ductwork Modification at the Kayenta Health Center (KHC) in Kayenta, AZ. This effort aims to optimize the ER's HVAC system by correcting airflow imbalances. Responses are due by June 05, 2026.

Purpose

This Sources Sought notice is for market research (FAR 10.001) to identify prospective sources capable of performing HVAC system optimization. The goal is to correct airflow imbalances impacting critical care operations in the Emergency Room at KHC, specifically increasing airflow to the ER main area and reducing it to the ER Triage and Waiting Room. Information gathered will inform the contracting office's acquisition strategy, including competition, set-asides, and identifying Indian-owned economic enterprises.

Scope of Work

The scope involves modifying the existing HVAC ductwork and installing balancing components within the ER. Key tasks include:

  • Demolition/Preparation: Access and remove existing ductwork and a three-way tee fitting.
  • Duct Modification: Replace the three-way tee with a properly configured sweep (wye) fitting to improve airflow to the ER main run.
  • Damper Installation: Install manual balancing dampers in branch ducts serving ER Triage and ER Waiting Room.
  • Sealing & Insulation: Seal all new duct connections per SMACNA standards and repair insulation.
  • Testing & Balancing: Adjust dampers to regulate airflow and verify increased airflow to the ER main area.
  • Cleanup: Remove debris and restore the work area. Work must comply with ASHRAE 170, FGI Guidelines, and NFPA 90A standards. The period of performance is from the award date through December 31, 2026.
